Establishment of the Office of Australian War Graves. The Office took over the duties of the Anzac Agency.

The Repatriation Department became the Department of Veterans' Affairs.

1976 - 1979
RAAF personnel joined UN Emergency Force II (UNEF II) in the Sinai to monitor cease - fire between Israel and Egypt.

1979 - 1980
An Australian Army contingent joined a British Commonwealth force to monitor the cease-fire in Rhodesia (now Republic of Zimbabwe).

1982 - 1986, 1993 - Present
An Australian contingent, mainly from the RAAF, joined the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) to monitor the Israeli withdrawal from the Sinai.

13 April 1983

Dedication of the Rats of Tobruk Memorial on Anzac Parade by the Governor-General, the Rt Hon Sir Ninian Stephen. The memorial commemorates all those Australians and Allied servicemen who fought and died during the Siege of Tobruk in 1941.

25 April 1985

Seventy five years after Gallipoli, the Turkish government agreed to recognise the name 'Anzac Cove' for the place on the Gallipoli Peninsula where the first Australian and New Zealand troops landed on 25 April 1915.

The Australian Government established the Kemal Ataturk Memorial Garden on Anzac Parade.

Dedication of the National Naval Memorial in Anzac Parade, Canberra, by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to mark the 75th anniversary of the formation of the Royal Australian Navy.

Australian military observers joined UN group monitoring Iran/Iraq truce (UNIIMOG).

Australian Army Field Engineers team assisted a UN mine clearance team training Afghan refugees in Pakistan.

1989 - 1990
Australians joined the United Nations Transition Assistance Group (UNTAG) overseeing Namibia's transition to independence from South Africa.
